Insulin Pumps
At South West Diabetes Care we are pleased to be able to offer you pump start appointments and ongoing education and support.
We are certified product trainers for Minimed 780G, Tandem T Slim, Yposmed with CamAPS and Omnipod 5.
Automated insulin delivery (AID) technology—sometimes called “closed-loop” systems—combines an insulin pump, a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), and advanced algorithms that automatically adjust insulin delivery in real time. This innovation is transforming diabetes care. Some of the key benefits include:
-
AID systems continuously adjust insulin delivery based on CGM readings, reducing highs and lows.
They help people spend more time in their target glucose range (often called “time in range”).
-
By automatically suspending or reducing insulin when glucose is predicted to drop, AID can prevent or lessen hypoglycemia.
-
The system handles many insulin adjustments automatically, easing the mental load of constant carb counting, corrections, and basal changes.
This can reduce “diabetes burnout” and decision fatigue.
-
Glucose management during sleep can be difficult. AID systems smooth fluctuations and reduce the risk of nighttime lows, giving people (and their families) peace of mind.
-
Users can enjoy more freedom around meals, exercise, and daily routines.
Many people report feeling more confident, less anxious, and better able to focus on life beyond diabetes.
-
Algorithms learn from a person’s glucose patterns and adjust accordingly, providing a more personalized approach than standard pump or injection therapy.
-
Improved glucose control and reduced variability can lower the risk of diabetes complications over time.

Type One Diabetes
Empowering Lives with Type 1 Diabetes
With over 16 years of experience in working with people with type one diabetes, our Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) is proud to offer personalized education and support to individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes.
Through tailored guidance, we help you understand how to manage blood glucose levels, adjust insulin, and make informed decisions about diet, exercise, and daily routines. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to live your best life, while also providing ongoing support and encouragement.
-

CGM
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is a valuable tool to use once or ongoing. We are able to offer free CGM trials for anyone living with any form of diabetes.
CGM appointments involve education on how the sensor works, how to insert and wear it safely, and what the numbers and trend arrows mean. Together, we’ll explore how to use this information in daily life—such as making food choices, adjusting activity, or recognising patterns. You’ll also learn tips for troubleshooting, reducing alarms, and sharing data with your healthcare team. The goal is to help you feel confident and comfortable, so you can use CGM to better understand and manage your diabetes.
